Came here on a whim today, we were riding around hunting for a place to eat and my fiance said "let's try that place". Man when I say he done good I mean it!! Now I'm not very knowledgeable about Indian cuisine but everything we ordered was delicious!! No exaggerating. The service was phenomenal and the decor was authentic and beautiful. We definitely found a new food spot.

#1 Indian Restaurant in Metro Detroit
Great atmosphere, has an upscale appearance but street food pricing.
They offer a ton of options and the portions are very big.
The customer service is THE BEST at ANY restaurant I have ate at, period. They are very attentive and appreciative, this was my second visit and they remember us even after it has been a few weeks.
If you haven’t tried Star of India, you haven’t lived. Anytime you crave Indian, crave Star of India!

I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. Everyone was very friendly and understanding of my gluten allergy. They showed me on the menu what is safe for me to eat. I had the mild chicken karahi which honestly I could’ve made it a medium because it wasn’t spicy at all and didn’t have that much flavor. I would come back to try their other dishes.

The food and the employees were both top-notch!! Every plate our table ordered (about four different dishes) was fantastic and notably, one of the people in our party had both a gluten and a lactose allergy, so she was worried about not having any options for herself, or being a nuisance with potential substitutions for her order. But the waitress pointed out a couple options on the menu that were both gluten and dairy free already, and that’s a huge plus for people who have those dietary restrictions.
The butter chicken was incredible, the samosas (both meat and veggie) were also delicious—they come with 3 sauces, all of which were also awesome. The names of the two other entrees our table ordered escape me, but they were also delicious. We also ordered some mango and yogurt (I think ??) drinks and they were, you guessed it, fantastic. I especially can’t wait to come grab them when summer rolls around again.
The staff was extremely friendly, very attentive, and even overheard us mentioning it was my sisters birthday, to which they took it upon themselves to play “happy birthday” through the restaurant and then presented each of us with a little rice pudding dessert (which, is the only thing I wasn’t crazy about, but that’s just personally—it was a texture thing and not a flavor thing).
Everyone in our party was raving about the food and service for the next couple days. We will definitely be going again and will encouraging our friends to go there!! A great small business to be supporting, you and yours should definitely give them a shot.

Great food, excellent service! The staff is extremely kind and quick.
We had a verbal miscommunication on my order where I was suppose to receive a liquid dish but it came as dry. I was content with what I received and didn’t request to remake anything. My waiter, Raj, and the kitchen staff provided a new dish anyways as complimentary! I was so surprised on this gesture! 5/5 spot!
